March 2020, the early days of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after Mardi Gras season, the once crowded streets of the French Quarter are devoid of life. The Birthplace of Jazz is silent. The black and white aesthetic was chosen to emphasize the emptiness of the city. The pandemic has washed out the usual liveliness of New Orleans and so I washed out the color. Black and white photos are often thought of as stills of times long ago. Distant memories. Something that I hope for this pandemic to soon be.
